Scarlet Fever (Scarlatina)
SYMPTOMS may include a high fever, headache, swelling of the neck gland,
the tongue may be strawberry colored, vomiting and sore throat. The skin
may become pinkish-red on the second day. It may be widespread or mild
and last up to 10 days.
CAUSES are from the streptococcal bacteria. Scarlet Fever is contagious
from just before symptoms appear and up to 2 or 3 weeks after.
TREATMENT
. Antibiotics are usually effective.
